The Wells County Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at The Rustic Trunk

Rustic Trunk

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce and its Ambassadors recently celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Rustic Trunk, a unique and charming furniture and home decor boutique located at 2035 Commerce Drive, Suite 205, in Bluffton. Owned and operated by Lisa Satterfield, The Rustic Trunk specializes in high-quality, gently used furniture and home staging services, meeting a growing need in the Bluffton community.

Lisa Satterfield, a former hairstylist of 38 years, was inspired to start The Rustic Trunk after recovering from a life-changing illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the economy shifted and the demand for affordable, high-quality furniture grew, Satterfield recognized the opportunity to pursue her passion for flipping furniture and staging homes.

"I found there was a need in Bluffton for better quality, high-end used furniture," said Satterfield. "I buy from auctions, and estate sales, and even take items on consignment. I’m picky about what I choose—I look for new pieces that I know will bring charm and elegance to any space."

In addition to quality furniture, The Rustic Trunk is proud to be the only local retailer of Dixie Belle Paint, a renowned brand of chalk and mineral paints perfect for DIY furniture projects. Satterfield carefully selected this line after realizing that local stores lacked the brand's full-color range and offerings. Dixie Belle Paint products include both oil-based and water-based paints and stains, allowing customers to complete a variety of creative projects.

The Rustic Trunk also offers home staging services, consignment opportunities, and commissioned furniture flips. Satterfield’s commitment to quality and her love for timeless antiques are evident throughout the store, where every piece tells a story. In addition to her own offerings, The Rustic Trunk features booth renters such as The Simple Things Soy Candle Co and The Red Barn Soap Company, adding even more charm and variety to the shopping experience.

"I have a passion for preserving the charm of antiques, and I won't paint pieces that are truly timeless," Satterfield shared. "I love finding old trunks and giving them new life without compromising their history." Looking ahead, Satterfield hopes to expand The Rustic Trunk and create space for hands-on workshops where customers can learn to paint and restore furniture using Dixie Belle Paint products.

Store hours are Wednesday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For more information, contact The Rustic Trunk at 260-307-3146 or visit the store in person.
