MidWest America Federal Credit Union Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony Celebrating Construction of New Branch
Fort Wayne, Ind. (April 14th, 2021) – MidWest America Federal Credit Union (MWAFCU) held a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Wednesday, April 14th, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. to kick off construction of their new branch in Bluffton, Indiana. The planning and construction of this project is being led by Design-Builder, Michael Kinder & Sons (MKS).
MidWest America Federal Credit Union provides financial services to over 57,000 members in northeast Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky and growing. In 2013, MKS and MWAFCU forged a partnership, starting the conversation about potential expansion and renovation projects due to the credit union’s rapid growth. The new branch will be located at 1840 N Main Street, Bluffton, Indiana 46714, one of over 14 different projects MKS and MWAFCU have worked on together. The construction of this new branch will mark MWAFCU’s and MKS’s 7th project in the past 12 months.
This new 3,700 square-foot branch will cost approximately $1.6 million and once completed, will be MWAFCU’s 19th location. “We are extremely excited to continue our expansion of offering competitive, quality financial services in Northeast Indiana. MidWest America has had numerous requests for a physical branch presence in the Bluffton area as our membership continues to grow in this community. We look forward to serving our existing members as well as new members in the years to come,” said Greg Mohr, President and CEO of MidWest America Federal Credit Union.
Mike Peters, Senior Estimator at Michael Kinder & Sons said, “I had the pleasure of meeting Greg Mohr during our time together on an Association Board. We have since developed a partnership that has led to MKS providing design-build services to MWAFCU for their renovation and new construction needs. The entire MKS team appreciates the trust that Greg has placed in us, and we look forward to working together to complete this new branch in Fort Wayne.”
The Groundbreaking Ceremony is a commemorative tradition where the first day of construction for a building is recognized and celebrated by the businesses and people involved in the project. The turning of the first sod/dirt on the job site is completed with shovels.
MidWest America Federal Credit Union President and CEO, Greg Mohr, opened the Groundbreaking Ceremony by saying a few words, expressing the significance of the project. Following, Board and staff members of MidWest America Federal Credit Union, MKS team members, Wells County Chamber members, and the Mayor of Bluffton, John Whicker, gathered with shovels and hard hats to participate in the traditional turning of the first dirt on the jobsite.
