Building Dreams for 20 Years
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors surprised brothers Trent and Tim Prough of Prough Design Builders as the May Member of the Month. Prough Design Builders have been building custom built houses, commercial properties, and room additions in Wells County and the surrounding areas for approximately 20 years.
“Before we started in construction we worked for and were trained by our father, Keith, who had a local plumbing, HVAC, and electrical company for nearly 15 years,” explained Trent. “We grew up here and when we started working for Dad we added that expertise to the construction field and the business grew from there.”
Prough Design Builders have built roughly 200-300 homes in the past 20 years. They both give credit to their dad for instilling a strong work ethic and workmanship in the work they do. “He always told us to do for others and give customers the quality, like it was our own,” said Trent.
The majority of Prough’s projects are done in Wells County. “Wells County has been a stable community and it has been very steady in the construction field,” adds Trent. “The people here are really easy to work with and are very kind. It’s a great place to live and work. We really enjoy it here.”
Trent and Tim explained that their goal is to hire local sub-contractors, approximately 30 individuals, to help with on-site jobs. “Our subs have been with us for a long time and they are the best,” Trent explained. In addition, Trent and Tim do all the plumbing, heating, and mechanical work inside the home or business.
Several of their known commercial projects in Wells County were El Camino and the Dutch Mill Plaza. “We are currently working on building Villas in the area because the younger population want the larger space, but they don’t want the hassle of taking care of the exterior of the home,” said Trent.
Prough Design Builders offer custom built homes and they explained they are not a cookie-cutter type of business. “We can change anything and make the home unique to the customer. We will customize as much as possible for the customer to make their home their own,” added Tim.
Before the end of the year, Prough Design Builders will be designing a new two-story office building north of Bluffton. “We are really looking forward to designing something unique and interesting and we will make the building large enough to rent a few office spaces as well,” concluded Trent.
