Chamber Ambassadors Recognize Meyer Building as July Member of the Month

July 12, 2017Chamber News, Member of the MonthErin Prible

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors surprised Gene and Becky Gerber with Meyer Building on July 6 as the July Member of the Month. Meyer Building located at 2570 North Main St, Craigville is a family owned and operated business which designs and builds post-frame buildings.

Meyer Building was started in 1968 by Bob Meyer, Sr. as Meyer Farm Enterprises, a distributor of various agricultural products. They ventured into the post-frame construction business in 1975.

The company discontinued selling agricultural equipment in 1985 and devoted all their efforts toward the building business. “This transition changed the company name to Meyer Building designing Agricultural, Suburban, Commercial, Community and Equestrian facilities,” said Gene Gerber.

Ownership of the business was later transferred from Bob Meyer, Sr. to Bob Meyer, Jr. prior to Gene and Becky Gerber purchasing the business in 2004.

The Gerbers’ are thankful for their faithful employees, great customers and a wonderful community to live and work in. Most of all, they strive to run their business in a manner that brings honor and glory to God.

“Wells County has been good to us and is a great place to do business. It’s important that as a local business we give back to local organizations,” explains Gerber. “We are supporters of the Wells Co 4-H, Dollars for Scholars at all three schools, and support a variety of local ministries.”

“Our goal is to grow slowly, but mainly to provide a nice living for our employees and produce a quality product for our customers. We strive to be a good example to our community.

This recognition is affirmation that we are doing our best. It truly is an honor to be selected and we are humbled and appreciated,” concludes Gerber.

Employees who were unable to attend: Bryce Bonewit; Jeremy Casterline; Joel Drayer; Daniel Ferguson; Jeff Gilgen; Craig Pierson; Pete F Schwartz & Crew; Walter AL Schwartz & Crew; Danny L Troyer & Crew.
