Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Hugh’s Bakery & Coffeehouse with a Ribbon Cutting
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff, Ambassadors and Board Members officially welcomed Lydia Yaste, owner of Hugh’s Bakery & Coffeehouse, with a Ribbon Cutting on July 12 located at 119 South Main St, Bluffton.
Lydia started her business in the former Grounds & Grains location. “The first of February I decided to take on this new venture. I had this plan to start a business several years down the road, but it wasn’t my plan to start now since I needed to finish my schooling in May,” Yaste explains.
The opportunity presented itself and Yaste decided to take advantage of following in the footsteps of an established business. “It was scary, but I am thrilled to see it all come together. Coffee is a draw for people and if I can add my passion of baking and branch out, the path is open,” Yaste said.
Hugh Studabaker, grandfather and role model of Yaste, was the inspiration for her love of baking. “He taught me at a young age how to bake, but showed me what a strong work ethic is, commitment to family, and how to give of yourself,” Yaste said.
Yaste has a lot of support helping her to start and run a new business amongst community members, family, friends, and her staff. “Everyone has been so supportive and outstanding.” Yaste comments that her dad is teaching her how to do simple maintenance and her mom is showing her how to do the books in the business.
Yaste compliments her staff about the help and dedication they have provided. “It was 7 weeks from the time I finished school to opening the doors. My staff have really stepped up for me and stood right beside me along the way. They have done an amazing job and this would not have been possible without their experience.”
Hugh’s will serve breakfast, brunch and lunch with options of baked goods, coffee, and special orders. Lunch will be served until 3pm. After 3pm drinks and display case items are available. Saturday’s Hugh’s will only be open for breakfast and brunch and soups are made fresh daily every morning.
