On Tuesday, November 15 the Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors welcomed Matt and Adia Yergler, owners of Yergy’s State Road BBQ at 1415 South Main Street in Bluffton, with a Ribbon Cutting.
Matt states that he has a passion for BBQ and his wife, Adia, makes recipes and creates sauces. “Aida was raised on southern food, so she brings a unique flavor to the BBQ. I was born and raised here and wanted to bring a good BBQ place to town. We had been looking at different buildings and then this one came available.”
The idea of the BBQ business started in 2013 in North Manchester when the Yergler’s owned a gas station. “We decided to try our BBQ and recipes in the store. It was very well received. We sold the gas station in 2015 and decided to take the BBQ on the road with a food trailer. The business has continued to grow,” explained Yergler.
Yergy’s State Road BBQ meats are slow-cooked to perfection and complimented with delicious and unique flavors. All of the sides and sauces are original recipes. Ribs, pulled pork, wings, chicken, burgers, brisket are a few of the items they prepare.
“We opened two weekends ago at this location and the community has been so supportive. Our lunch menu has a lot of options; however, our catering options are endless. We would like to build this side of the business with catering. We also want to use our facility for large parties, meetings, and gatherings on the days we are closed,” added Adia.
Being a part of the community is important for Matt and Adia. “We love to support local businesses. We want to give back and be a part of the community. We buy local, do business local, and support local. Small business is important and it is important to support one another”, Adia
“Our passion is working through glorifying Jesus Christ. We do our best through our attitudes and character to give the best of ourselves. The people we hire we want to build relationships and emphasize a strong work ethic. This is a ministry first and the BBQ is next,” explained Matt. ““Leading by example is what we strive towards. We may fall short, but we sure try.”
“It’s the relationships that give us strength and the joy that it brings. We want to represent something more by giving back to our community and being good people,” added Adia.
Yergy’s State Road BBQ is open Thursday through Saturday from 10:30am to 9:00pm.
