Community Care of Wells County RECEIVES $63,598.01 LOWE’S GRANT
Lowe’s Gives Foundation funds to Grace & Mercy Transitional Housing for Building/Grounds Improvements Project
Bluffton, IN, – The Lowe’s Gives Foundation has awarded a $63,598.01 grant to Community Care of Wells County for Grace & Mercy Transitional Housing building and grounds improvements. Community Care of Wells County will use the grant to add an 8’ vinyl privacy fence, 20’x16’ screened gazebo, a children’s playground and finish unfinished areas of the building that leads to the fenced area.
A woman with a restraining order against a former partner can be assured of safety and security in our facility and the outdoor area once these projects are completed. She will have a place to enjoy some fresh air, let her children play, and not be looking over her shoulder fearful for her and her children’s safety.
This Lowe’s grant is such a huge blessing as we can now move forward with the fence, gazebo, and playground. Additionally, we’ll be able to finish the hallways in the unfinished area that leads to the door to this secure and fenced-in area. As we strive to help these women/kids, what seemed like an unattainable dream for us will soon be a reality thanks to Lowe’s and their generosity to us and investing in this community. We are truly grateful.
ABOUT Community Care of Wells County
Community Care of Wells County, 501(c)(3), operates three interlaced programs, The Connecting Center, Change Up Thrift Store, and Grace & Mercy Transitional Housing. The Connecting Center connects people to the appropriate resources and is often the entry point into Grace & Mercy Transitional Housing program. Grace & Mercy expanded operations when we were richly blessed with the “A Friends House” property and will soon house 10 residents at our 2 locations. The Change Up Thrift Store affords job training to transitional housing residents, inexpensive products to the less fortunate, and the income received above operating costs supports the other Community Care programs.
Presently, 17 churches, 31 businesses/organizations, and 50+ individuals across Wells County support Community Care of Wells County. Community Care’s circle of influence is vast. From weekly jail visits offering the Reformers Unanimous (RU) 12-step Program, Kate’s Kitchen, WRAPP meetings, Finance classes, Jobs for Life classes, mentoring, mediating for clients with landlords and utilities, moving people, court room support, transitional housing, and more, Community Care is touching lives in a positive way and making a difference in Wells County.
