Hugh’s Bakery & Coffeehouse Officially Welcomed with a Ribbon Cutting

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors officially welcomed Lydia Yaste, owner of Hugh’s Bakery & Coffehouse, to their new location at 229 W. Market St. in Bluffton. Yaste moved the business this past September.

Yaste opened Hugh’s Bakery & Coffeehouse in June 2017 in downtown Bluffton. Yaste had a dream and a vision at that time creating an environment for people to feel at home and creating a space for people to gather. The first location allowed Yaste to build the business; however, her goal was to own her own building and create the ambiance she had always visioned; an opportunity to provide more for the community.

The larger space can make that vision a reality bringing families in and offering fellowship for others. Yaste said, “I wanted to provide after-hours events for youth, young adults, or other events. This new space provides that opportunity; with the larger kitchen space I can now cater events and have more capacity to assemble and store items that I did not have in the other location.”

Renovation had to take place before Yaste could officially move into the space with electrical and plumbing upgrades, interior painting, kitchen re-work, removal and addition of walls, fixing of ceilings and floors.

“It was a lot of work; however, that moment when I saw the natural light shine through the front window, I knew then my dream finally became a reality; you don’t know how it is going to feel until it happens. It was more than I thought it would be,” explained Yaste.

In the next 2-5 years Yaste would like to be more hands-off with the business, empowering her staff to be in leadership roles to help run the day-to-day operations. “I would like to offer business coaching to other up-and-coming entrepreneurs to find their dream and teach action steps to run their own businesses,” stated Yaste.

Yaste credits the business success from the continuous support and love from her parents, the hard work and dedication from her team members, and the tremendous love from the community. “I am truly blessed, thankful, and amazed for the community I live in and to call this home.”
