Ind Brow Designer Celebrates a Ribbon Cutting
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting celebration for Mikayla Oswalt for her new business, Ind Brow Designer, located at 109 North Scott Street in Bluffton. Oswalt officially opened her doors in August 2020.
Ind Brow Designer offers a tattooing technique in which a small handheld tool is used to create a semi-permanent pigment to the skin. Oswalt has been experienced in this technique for over a year.
Oswalt stated she has always wanted to own and run her own business; having an overall say in the direction of the business, offer products and services unique to her. “When this location became available, I knew it was time to branch out on my own and offer a service that is not very common in the area.”
The stand-alone building is enough space to grow the business. Oswalt said her sister, Madison Oswalt, will be joining her in a couple of months and will be offering facials, waxing, and lash extensions. “We are excited to offer additional spa-type treatments to clients.”
Although Oswalt originally had a plan to offer microblading services on the side for extra money and fun, she soon realized there was a demand. “I had no idea there was such high interest and people come from all over because there are not a lot of people that offer this technique in the area.”
Oswalt explains that microblading is the natural hair stroke look where you can see the individual hairs and the results can last 8 months to one year. Microshading fills in the brow, very similar to what makeup would look like in the brow and the results last 1-3 years. “I can apply as light or as dark as a client would like; however, still creating a very natural look on the brow.”
“A very popular technique would be a combo-brow technique, which is using both techniques,” said Oswalt. “People really like that the best and is the most popular.”
“My goals for the next year are to learn different techniques such as lip blushing. I wanted to learn microshading and I have accomplished that, so I am looking forward to adding this service as well,” explained Oswalt. “I will also be offering more products for customers to buy in the near future.”
Since opening in August Oswalt said the greatest joy are clients coming back and posting their results on social media. “I have clients that have told me how much this has changed their life or have given them more confidence. These stories just warm my heart.”
Ind Brow Designer is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm, by appointment.
