Lowe’s Takes the March Honor

March 13, 2018Chamber News, Member of the MonthHattie Wondercheck

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors recognized Lowe’s Home Improvement, located at 2105 N Main St, Bluffton, as the March Member of the Month. Lowe’s continues to make a difference in Wells County by volunteering, donating, and supporting many local organizations.

Wesley Chubb, Store Manager, has been with the Bluffton location for one year and has worked in Northwest Indiana and Portage Indiana over the past 11 years for Lowe’s. The Bluffton Lowes employs 125 local individuals with an annual payroll of approximately $2.5 million. Bluffton Lowes will also be hiring an additional 13 seasonal workers before the summer.

Chubb said that coming to Wells County has been a wonderful experience, from getting to know the employees, the community, and the school systems. “Sometimes we don’t have a choice of what location we will be managing, and I am very grateful that we are here in Wells County and our family wants to stay.”

Community involvement is important to Chubb and the employees have made huge strides in supporting local organizations such as internal and external improvements at the Boys & Girls Club, building ramps at home for Veterans, donation to the Grace & Mercy Housing, benefits for Freedom Riders and Cancer organizations, building picnic tables at the YMCA, just to name a few. Locally, Lowe’s has donated over $9,000 in product to charities this past year.

“We want our employees and the company to be actively involved in the community we serve,” explains Chubb. “Community is important, and I strive to instill involvement in our employees and encourage them to look for opportunities they can make a difference in whatever their passion lies.”

“Our employees are local people, our customers are local people, and we have to do our part and invest back in the community and the customers we serve,” says Chubb. “Lowe’s is here for you, not only offering a variety of home improvement products and meeting a need but being an integral part of people’s lives.”

“Being recognized as the Member of the Month is humbling and an honor from the Chamber and the business community. Thank you,” concludes Chubb.
