Minnich’s Antiques & General Store Receives December Honor
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors recognized Kim Minnich with Minnich’s Antiques & General Store, located at 1123 Otto in Uniondale, as the December Member of the Month. Minnich opened the store in August 2013.
A little store in Uniondale that packs so much character and items for people to choose from whether you are looking for general store items, delicious made-to-order food, vintage soda and candy, antiques, hand dipped ice cream, and so much more. “In the last 7 years, we have worked so hard to get where we are today,” said Minnich. “I am living a dream I never dreamed I’d be living.”
Minnich said taking a leap of faith with the business and taking chances has allowed her business to grow. “You know the saying, ‘build it and they will come’, and that is what we did. This business has exceeded our expectations beyond belief. I didn’t know how crazy good this could really be.”
Minnich’s goal is to provide as many Indiana-made and local products as possible. Additional items are on the horizon. “The growth has allowed us to offer additional offerings such as expanding the menu line, candy, and other fun items.”
“I just love the public and meeting new customers; we have such wonderful and faithful customers,” stated Minnich. “In fact, someone from California heard about our pizzas while visiting in Canada and drove 100 miles out of their way just to get one of Wabash pizzas on their trip back to California.”
The restaurant continues to be busy and the selection of pies and pickles bring people in along with the extensive candy selection, which are different and unique. Dark chocolate has been a customer request; therefore, Minnich said they will be stocking chocolate covered almonds, espresso beans, and pretzels.
“For those that love milk chocolate, I have ordered chocolate covered walnuts, pecans, peanut butter filled pretzels, cashews, raisins, giant malted milk balls, and other chocolate assortments,” said Minnich. “Carmel corn crunch is also a favorite and we have flavors of margarita, pina colada, strawberry daiquiri, butter rum, and a new bacon flavor.”
Minnich’s Antiques & General Store is a perfect place to stop for a gift selection and gift baskets are available. “I can take orders or help people put together a variety basket or pickles, mustard, relish, coffee, candles, or chocolate,” explained Minnich.
Minnich said the honor of the Member of the Month is like hitting the lottery. “I have been floating on cloud 9 since the surprise. Being recognized confirms your hard work and dedication to the business. The amount of time and hours put in behind the scenes people sometimes do not realize and that’s just part of running a business; but this made my day. We want to thank all of our customers and the Chamber for their support.”
Minnich’s Antiques & General Store hours are Tuesday through Friday 11am-7pm; Saturday 10am-4pm; Sunday 10am-4pm until Christmas.
