New Massage Therapy Business Opens in Bluffton
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors welcomed Miryah Boxell, owner of Balance Massage Therapy & Bodyworks, located at 122 South Johnson Street in Bluffton with a Ribbon Cutting. Boxell has been in business in Berne for nearly nine years and recently opened a second location in Bluffton.
Miryah originally went to school to be an esthetician; however, realized she was being held back from her capabilities and wanted to do more for client needs. “I really enjoyed the massage aspect, but you can’t go beyond the scope of the practice being an esthetician,” explained Boxell. “I wanted to get into deep tissue and the therapeutic massage, but there is specific licensing that is required. We were living in Virginia at the time and I went back to school for massage therapy, which was 15 years ago.”
Miryah said that her focus is more on the medical side and going in depth to find the specific needs of why people are hurting and treating the pain. “I worked in a chiropractor setting for 10 years and that taught me a lot about the tissues and nerves. I have a lot of experience helping people.”
The decision to open a second location in Bluffton was something Miryah had been thinking about for some time. “I just had a gut feeling that I needed to expand and that feeling would not go away. I mentioned to a family member that I wish this very location would become available, so I could expand. Within the hour that family member called to tell me she saw a ‘for rent’ sign being placed in the window.”
The start of a new adventure began the next day. An instant remodel needed to take place to create a relaxing and calming environment, in addition to adding therapy rooms for clients. Miryah and her husband Clint started the remodel process on their own. “It was probably worse than building a new building because so much needed to be done with the floors, painting, and adding three walls to create three rooms and a hallway,” stated Clint. “We hired very little and did most everything on our own to get it ready by the end of October 2020.”
“We’ve been building the business since then and we are so happy to be here,” Miryah said. Services Balance Massage Therapy & Bodyworks offers are therapeutic massage, prenatal massage, sports massage, hot stone massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, cupping, energy work, equine massage, and relaxation. “If I don’t offer a service a client requires, I will try to get that licensing to meet their needs. I continuously want to improve adding services to the business. My next route for licensing is acupuncture.”
In addition to massage therapy, Miryah also sells Young Living essential oils and Thieves, aromatherapy products, crystal jewelry, bath and shower bombs, bath salts, pain relief ointments, Bio freeze, and diffusers. “We also offer a foot detox session and if there is something specifically people want, we will order.”
“I am willing to work on anyone and will not turn people away and if you don’t think I can help you, please give me a try as I think I can make a difference,” stated Miryah. “I will even travel to homes if people are specifically homebound. I really want to help people.”
“I want people to know that Miryah is the best in what she does,” said Clint. “People travel to find her and make it a part of their routine to have her work on them. We are looking forward to expanding and adding more therapists to get us to the next level. Opening this location is exciting, more than what we could ask for, and happy to be here.”
Balance Massage Therapy & Bodyworks will be holding an Open House on October 2nd for tours and answer questions about the services offered.
