Ossian Deli Recognized as the December Member of the Month
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors surprised Brad Pursley, owner of Ossian Deli at 404 N Jefferson Street in Ossian, on December 1 as the December Member of the Month. Pursley purchased the convenience store in 1986 from Norm Burke.
Pursley, who grew up in Wells County, says running convenience stores is not unusual in his family. “My uncle and mother used to own multiple locations, including Crossroads in Markle. Along with the Ossian location, we used to own four other stores,” explained Pursley. “Over the years we sold the other three and now my focus is in Ossian.”
Ossian Deli has a cozy and welcoming feel as you enter. Lana Bookmiller, cashier, started working for Pursley in 1988. “I have been here for 28 years and I have been with this family since the beginning. I like what I do and enjoy the customers,” said Bookmiller.
Pursely added, “it’s all about the customer service here. Anyone can sell what we sell; however, it’s about the service, offering quality products, being competitive, and offering items that our customers want. That is how we have built our business over the years.”
Over the years Ossian Deli has expanded to offering fresh items daily, a full line deli, breakfast food to start the day, and an array of beverages.
“The food line has really evolved and gradually has grown over the years. We are just so fortunate to be here and what we have accomplished,” said Pursley.
