Potter’s Lawn Service Expands Services

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting for Kirk and Staci Potter, Potter’s Lawn Service, due to their fertilizing business expansion. Potter’s Lawn Service is located at 815 West Cherry Street in Bluffton.

Potter worked at Appliance One for 19 years and started a lawn care business on the side, mowing and maintaining lawns after work. When Appliance One officially closed, Potter had built up his side business to transition into lawn care full time. “The timing ended up being perfect,” said Kirk.

Kirk contributes a lot of the success of growth to the relationships that were formed through Appliance One over the years. “The first year I was able to hire a part time employee helping to mow and maintain lawns. I had 20-30 customers that first year, which kept us busy. Then the referrals started to take place.”

Growth in the business continued the second year and Potter was able to hire an additional full-time employee. Recently, Potter purchased the fertilizing and spraying business from Scott Minnich, which expanded the services Potter’s Lawn Service offers.

“We currently mow and maintain for approximately 65 residents and businesses, mostly in Wells County, and serve over 500 with the fertilizing and spraying services,” explained Potter. “We will continue to grow that part of the business in the future.”

Potter’s Lawn Service offers a fertilizing program throughout the year. “Most people sign up for the application process and we will come out five times a year and apply different prevention techniques and fertilizer at each application,” Potter said. “Customers can also add on specialty applications for grub control, flea and tick prevention, or insecticide for example.”

“We want to do the best work we can and be honest with customers,” stated Potter. “Relationships are very important to us and we want to work with our customers to deliver the best service we can.”
