River Terrace Retirement Community Receives April Honor
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors recognized River Terrace Retirement Community located at 400 Caylor Blvd in Bluffton as the April Member of the month. River Terrace Retirement Community employs 120 individuals and opened in 2013.
River Terrace Retirement Community, located on 37 acres of land just north of Bluffton, was founded by the Caylor Foundation due to the dream of serving this community and providing a quality place for people to retire. Alicia Bauer, Executive Director said, “the community is so lucky to have a facility that residents can be completely independent and have the security that someone is here if they need it; to the opposite spectrum where we, as staff, get to see their lives through.”
There are 130 individuals currently residing at River Terrace are being provided meals, activities, educational opportunities, a walking path, and Chapel services. “Our residents can age in place and we will support them at all levels of care they need so they can stay at every level of their age, whatever that may be,” said Bauer. “It is also very important to us that families can stay together in one facility.”
Bauer started working with River Terrace in July 2018 and has been in the health care field for 17 years. Bauer explained that this is work she has always done and cares to do. “I really love the wisdom of our residents and what they can teach us. My drive is for them to be as happy as they can be while they are here at River Terrace.”
Bauer commended the great staff on their hard work and dedication to the residents. “We live with these individuals and know what they like, what they don’t like, what they eat, and most importantly they don’t have to be alone in their lives and it is an amazing bond with people.”
Partnerships with the community are important to Bauer and River Terrace. Annually they hold a Car Show, which will take place on April 27, 2019 and anticipate over 100 cars. “The event continues to be a successful event for us to draw people locally and people come from other states as well. It is a great event for our community in general having the number of people attend,” stated Bauer. “There will be games throughout the day, drawings, DJ Fast Eddie will entertain with music, Kings Tabernacle Highway we will have their food truck, and there will be door prizes for guests. It will be a fun and busy day! Any proceeds of the day will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.”
