Scooter’s Coffee Opens First Location in Bluffton
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors celebrated with a Ribbon Cutting to welcome Scooter’s Coffee to Bluffton. Scooter’s Coffee is a drive-thru franchise located at 996 North Main Street in Bluffton.
Scooter’s Coffee has been serving world-class coffee for 25 years and has over 550 locations in 28 states across the nation. Billy Farrell, Director of Operations, stated they are excited about investing in the community. “We have a large footprint for our operating franchise group with a store in Wabash, Portland, Newcastle, Madison Wisconsin, and everywhere in between.”
Farrell stated the Scooter’s brand was focused on the larger markets and then started to shift offering the product in smaller towns. “We love the sense of community and switched our mindset to small markets to make a difference. It’s more than just selling coffee, it’s about developing the next generation of young leaders.”
“Scooter’s Coffee success is founded on four core values the company and employees operate which are love, integrity, humility and courage,” explained Farrell. “Love is the most important. It’s important for me in this broken world that we live in, to have these four core values to help our young kids that are growing up. This may be their first job or the first time they have a bank account. This is about understanding and teaching them how to look at a schedule, be responsible and show up for work, and be dedicated. Our values are about developing these individuals into leaders. They might want to own their own Scooters’ Coffee someday, or be a doctor, or whatever they decide, we will help prepare them for the next steps with love and respect.”
Mikayla Coyle, Store Manager, is from the community and excited to be a part of this experience managing the store, serving customers, meeting and exceeding goals, and developing her team. “This is a great location, and the environment is fun and upbeat. I am surrounded by a great team of people that I get to work with each day. Everything about this place has been honestly a dream come true as a career.”
“One of the things that I am most excited about in my position is the ability to grow these people around me,” explained Coyle, “I have a lot of employees coming in that this is their first job or they have never worked in a coffee establishment. I am able to take this brand new experience, guide them, and watch them grow.”
The community support that has been received thus far has been appreciated. “I want to give a big thank you to all of our customers, who are turning into regulars,” Coyle said. “It’s exciting to see the familiar faces we see every day.”
Community involvement is a goal of Coyle’s. “I want to take my position here and use it as an opportunity to give back where there is a need. I hope to continue moving up in the company, but my focus is to see this store grow and succeed.”
Farrell said that at a recent Scooter’s Coffee conference they broke the world record for the largest cake ball and is now listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. “This was a great accomplishment as the company is celebrating 25 years.”
Scooter’s Coffee offers all day breakfast pastries, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, cookies, cake bites, hot and iced drinks, blenders, smoothies, and a variety of teas. Coyle said that drip coffee is a favorite and there is a different flavor each day. Scooter’s Coffee is open 5am to 8pm Monday through Friday and 6am to 8pm Saturday Sunday.
