Shelton Financial Opens in Ossian
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff welcomed Shelton Financial to Ossian with a Ribbon Cutting celebration on September 17, 2020. Shelton Financial renovated and moved into the old PNC Bank located at 1102 N Jefferson Street, Ossian.
In addition, Shelton Financial held a grand opening celebration with food trucks, camels to pet, and local nonprofits. Helping Hands, Forgotten Children, and Loving Shepherd Ministries were present conducting activities such as a dunk tank (with fearless dunkers Tom Felger and Steve Gerber) and cornhole games.
Jeff Shelton, owner, said “twenty-five years ago, I started Shelton Financial in this same business complex and look where we are today; back to the same area. We are excited to be here in Ossian and appreciate the support from the community.”
Shelton Financial currently employs 6 advisors and 7 support staff. Amy VanMeter was Shelton’s first hire 23 years ago and she still works for the firm today.
Nathan Shelton, Financial Advisor, explained that the firm got to this point because the Lord put the pieces together to make it happen. Shelton Financial has an office building in Fort Wayne; however, they have been using space at Honegger-Ringger & Co. in Bluffton for several years. “As each company continues to grow, it was time to start looking for space locally because it is important to have the signage and the physical location in Wells County. When this opportunity became available, we could not pass it up. It is a beautiful building and the location is perfect for the business.”
Natives to Wells County, Nathan Shelton and Piercen Harnish will be in the Ossian location and working with clients and building the business. Both Shelton and Harnish grew up in Wells County and continue to have relationships and connections in the community. Dan Easley will work at both the Fort Wayne and Ossian locations as well.
James S. Jackson built the building in the 1980’s. The building sat empty for approximately 8 years after PNC Bank moved out of Ossian. Josh Barkley with Barkley Builders was the General Contractor for the renovation. Improvements included: the teller line was removed and the drive-thru was filled in, walls were removed to allow more space, additional offices were built, flooring was installed, plumbing was updated, and many other interior aesthetic improvements were done and a lot of work was done to improve the exterior of the building.
“We tried to use as many local businesses as possible and give credit to Kemper Flooring, Ossian Furniture & Design, Baldus, Brooks Construction, Fort Wayne Technology Group, and Power-Up Electric. We especially want to thank David Morrison with Ossian Bank and Mick Cupp with Cupp Real Estate for working with us on the purchase of the building,” said Nathan.
The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration officially marked the opening of business. “We will schedule clients by appointment only to begin with; however, as business grows, an Advisor will be in the building 2-3 days a week,” said Nathan. “There is also additional office space in the building for rent. Currently Fort Wayne Technology Group is a tenant and we have space for more.”
Shelton Financials goal moving forward is to offer educational events and workshops for the community such as planning for Retirement, Social Security, Estate, IRA and 401K. They will add one topic a month and after the first of the year focusing on on-going Biblically Responsible Investing workshops. These workshops will focus on how to align investments with your values.
“We want people to know that Shelton Financial welcomes you to meet with any of us as we are a low-pressure environment and want to do what is best for the client to bring value to their goals,” concluded Nathan.
