Sweet Obsessions Ribbon Cutting Celebration
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors officially welcomed Sweet Obsessions with a Ribbon Cutting on July 25 with owner Rachel Rinehart and family. The new business is located at 111 E Market Street in Bluffton.
Rinehart is originally from Chamberlain, South Dakota; a small town with a population of 2,300. Her entrepreneurial skills started with her own bakery and bistro in 2010 when she opened her business in Chamberlain, South Dakota.
“As the bakery and bistro grow, I was able to buy the building; however, with the growth I also had to decide to continue expanding my business or sell,” Rinehart explains. “I was missing so much of my children’s activities so we decided to sell the building and the business.”
When asked what made her decide to move to Indiana she said her sister has lived in Ossian for 10 years and would visit often. “I really liked the area. My sister and I are very close and we wanted our kids to grow up with their cousins, so we decided to move this way.”
Plans continued to change as the family moved from South Dakota and she was going to be a stay-at-home mom. “Once the kids were in school, I got bored and started baking again. We were running baked goods over to the Fire Department on a regular basis,” Rinehart laughs.
“I felt it was time to try opening a business in downtown Bluffton. We talked it over with the kids and they missed the bakery as well. So, we decided to jump in and open Sweet Obsessions.
I want to teach our children that if you work hard, great things can happen. Nothing is ever handed to you and hard work pays off,” says Rinehart.
The bright, colorful business in downtown Bluffton will welcome customers with delicious goods such as gourmet and traditional cupcakes, lemon bars, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, whole cakes and slices, and muffins. Special orders are limited.
Since opening the doors on July 13th Rinehart states she has had a ton of community support. “I didn’t know many people and it is great to have the support from everyone. We love the location and we love this town. Bluffton is huge to us compared to where we moved from.”
