Twice the Ice Opens at Dutch Mill Plaza

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors welcomed a unique business in town, Twice the Ice, owned by James Hoover, with a Ribbon Cutting located at the Dutch Mill Plaza.

Twice the Ice is an ice and water vending machine, which is made on-site and vended on-demand to customers with a touchless delivery system. To ensure the highest quality of water the system goes through a Healthwise® Water Purification process.

Hoover said that the entire process is done through the machine on site. “The water starts through a micron filtration to remove the dirt, rust and other solids; then through the activated carbon filtration to eliminate chlorine, organic chemicals, and odors; the ion exchange then softens the water by removing minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and iron; then back through the micron filtration process; and ends with reverse osmosis to purify water to 99.99% by removing salts and other impurities.”

“You will not find any cleaner and clearer water around,” stated Hoover.

Hoover grew up in the Goshen area and saw the vending machines in the area. Approximately a year and half ago Hoover decided to open the ice and water vending machine in Berne. “The company that makes the machine said they do well in communities with a population of 10,000. Twice the Ice has done well in Berne and I decided to open one in Bluffton,” explained Hoover.

Hoover also owns an auto repair shop; therefore, maintaining Twice the Ice is low overhead and easy to maintain on evenings and weekends.

“The machine is very easy to use as it dispenses a 10lb for $1.50 or a 20lb bag for $2.50 of ice. The purified water dispenses 1 gallon, 3 gallons, and 5 gallons,” said Hoover. “You must bring your own jug to fill with the water.”

Twice the Ice is very well lit at night and is open 24/7.
